Functions

  • Provides factual information to prospective retirees needed to make a pleasant transition from world of work into retirement.
  • Disseminates information on the retirement process including general information about social security and medical care coverage.
  • Engages financial planners to assist in development of training modules that deal with financial planning, investments and estate planning.
  • Conduct presentations before employees and beneficiaries regarding the retirement systems rules, retirement benefit plans, policies, procedures, legal requirements, statutes, regulations and benefits.
  • Facilitates the acquisition of life skills to prospective retirees needed for optional adjustment to retirement goals.
  • Research and recommend appropriate benefits plans and services based on data analysis.
  • Conducts research in areas identified for policy reviews.
  • Administers retirement plans in accordance with PSC guidelines and regulations.
  • Maintains knowledge of legal and regulatory changes, trends, and other developments affecting retirement benefits.
  • Facilitates engagement with private sectors and key stakeholders for collaborations with Government on retirement planning.
  • Develops and implements retirement products.
  • Monitors and evaluate retirement planning programmes.
  • Promotes Industrial harmony by conducting consultative workshops with workers’ representatives quarterly to discuss the conditions of service of members of the public service and other issues of mutual interest.
  • Responds to workers’ concerns.
  • Promotes Occupational Safety and Health issues within the public service to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Facilitates the Work of Joint Committees on matters related to employee conditions of service.
  • Advises the Management on current labor trends, legal developments, and industrial relations matters.
  • Acts as a bridge between the Government and workers to foster a stable, cooperative, and productive work environment.
  • Facilitate the capacity-building programs for members of the National Joint Negotiating Council.
  • Participates in workers’ events, such as May Day, to listen to their grievances and provide recommendations to the principals
