The Zimbabwe National Boxing and Wrestling Control Board (ZNBWCB) exhibited at the 2024 National Disability Expo under the banner of the Ministry of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture from the 10th to the 12th of July at Chipadze Stadium in Bindura, Mashonaland Central.

The three-day expo saw a number of government and civic organisations coming together to advocate for and promote the rights of persons with disabilities while running under the theme ‘Attainment of vision 2030, disability empowerment targets for enhanced inclusive sustainable development’.

The mega event drew a huge following with people coming in from all of the country’s ten provinces and the ZNBWCB, under the auspice of its parent Ministry, was an area of interest for many visitors.

ZNBWCB Mashonaland Central Provincial Coordinator, Mr Shingi Mutsvene, highlighted how the expo aligns with the core values of the organisation by nourishing inclusivity.

“We are having people with and without disabilities visiting our stand and this resonates well with our thrust as the ZNBWCB, where believe in and embrace inclusivity.

He went on to share some of the opportunities that are available for persons with disabilities to exploit.

“There are so many opportunities which are bound in combat sport, we could have persons with disabilities being trained as boxers, boxing coaches, ring officials and judges”, said Mutsvene.
