1)                Terms of Reference:

  • Constitution of Zimbabwe (Amendment 20) of 2013
    • Boxing and Wrestling Control Act (Chapter 25.02) of 1956

2) Functions:

  • To facilitate the establishment and effective coordination of all boxing/MMA/wrestling structures
  • To register, license and sanction any person who is not a member of the Board as a boxer, fighter, wrestler, official, manager or promoter.
  • To promote and market the activities of combat sport as a leading brand.
  • To champion the development of boxing/MMA/wrestling infrastructure for recreational and competitiveness purposes.
  • To facilitate and coordinate the skills development programmes amongst the licensees within the boxing/MMA/wrestling fraternity.
  • To develop appropriate norms and standards for the effective management and administration of combat sport.
  • To ensure the compliance and enforcement of the norms and standards by all the individual licensees and their Associations.
  • To establish effective dispute resolution mechanisms and to mitigate all disputes that may arise amongst the licensees within the boxing/MMA/wrestling fraternity.
    • To develop a talent identification and skills development framework and foster partnerships with relevant stakeholders for its realisation and implementation.
    • To ensure that the administration and management of combat sport in Zimbabwe is based on good governance and run in the best interests of fighters and the general public.
    • To establish a benevolent fund or any other such funds to be used for such purposes as may be prescribed by regulation.
  • To establish and maintain good and productive relations with international bodies/associations/federations/councils.
  • To reward and recognize outstanding performance through national awards
  • To promote the development of boxing, wrestling, and mixed martial arts at all levels.
  • To use boxing, wrestling, and mixed martial arts as a tool for development.
  • To liaise with stakeholders in the combat sport and manage their expectations and interests in a way that advances the interests of the sport.
